Spanish Grand Prix by Private Jet
Round 5 of the Formula 1 world championship takes place in two weeks time, being held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, 30km’s from Barcelona city centre. The Grand Prix is one of the oldest in motor sport, with the race celebrating its centenary back in 2013.
The Spanish Grand Prix has witnessed some fantastic races and duels over the course of its history, with memorable battles having taken place between the likes of Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost, with more contemporary drivers such as Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso providing the drama in recent years.
This year the competition is heating up, with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg relentlessly driving the Merecedes team forward, hotly pursued by the Ferrari team with deposed world champion Sebastian Vettel leading the chase.
The world of Formula 1 has always been closely intertwined with private aviation, with a spike in private jet traffic heading to Barcelona El Prat Airport (IATA: BCN) expected over the Grand Prix weekend on the 10th May. The airport itself is situated 12km’s southwest of Barcelona itself, and is fully equipped to handle all categories of private aviation with the benefit of a dedicated corporate terminal.
