Houston by Private Jet

One of the most dynamic cities in the southern United States, Houston in the fourth biggest city by population in the US after New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The city itself is a melting pot of diversity, powered by an almost tangible sense of energy, charisma and confidence that sets it apart from almost any other city in the State. And to be honest it is well deserved.

Houston is a major city in global terms, with enormous interests in business, commerce, trade and culture. It also boasts a significant presence in education, science, and technology. This strong underlying infrastructure, and its important geographical location (Houston is located on the Gulf of Mexico), have lead to the city being recognised globally for its importance to the oil and gas industry in particular. Over 5,000 energy firms have a base in the area, supported by countless other companies that provide support to the industry such as hardware manufacturers. The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) is held annually in Houston, which is the largest oil and gas trade show in the world.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IATA: IAH, ICAO: KIAH)

Bush Intercontinental is situated 37km’s north of downtown Houston, and is one of the busiest airports in the continental US. The airport is capable of handling all different class types and sizes of aircraft, with two FBO’s on site to look after all private charter flights and VIP requirements.

William P Hobby Airport (IATA: HOU, ICAO: KHOU)

William P Hobby Airport is Houstons oldest airport, and served as its primary international gateway until it was superceded by George Bush Intercontinental in 1969. Located 11km to the south east of the city centre, Willaim P Hobby is the preferred entry point for international and domestic private jet charters. The airport is open 24 hours a day and is capable of handling all sizes of air traffic.

Given it’s popularity with private and executive jet charters, there are five FBO’s on site at William P Hobby, meaning it is one of the most well serviced airports for those arriving by private jet. A new international terminal is currently under construction, which is due for completion later this year.

Ellington Airport (IATA: EFD, ICAO: KEFD)

Ellington Airport is unusual by comparison to George Bush Intercontinental and William P Bobby in that it is used for both military and public flights. 28km’s to the south of the city centre, the airport is approximately a 25 minute drive from downtown Houston. The airport is served by one FBO and is capable of handling all categories of private jet aircraft.

Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, has long been an established hub for private aviation. One of the seven constituent states of the UAE, Abu Dhabi is not only the largest emirate but also the most populous, with a prosperous oil based economy contributing to high levels of domestic wealth and investment.

Situated as it is, mid way between Europe and the numerous emerging markets of Asia, Abu Dhabi is a natural hub for billions of dollars of trade and business that flows between the two continents and the middle east. It is also an important port of call for private traffic heading between Australasia and European destinations.

The volume of aviation traffic has been growing year on year, with 22% growth in the number of summer flights scheduled to depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport (IATA: AUH) this year as compared to 2014. The volume of private aviation traffic has also increased steadily, particularly since the inauguration of Al Bateen Executive Airport (IATA: AZI).

Al Bateen is a dedicated business jet and private jet airport, on the site of what was a military airfield up until 2008. It is located only 12 km’s outside of the centre of the city of Abu Dhabi itself, and is served by an exceptional FBO in Dhabijet FBO services. Australia is one of the largest countries in the world, with over 7.5m sq km’s of territory. Whilst it has a healthy population of close to 24m people, it also has one of the lowest population densities in the world, with approximately 3 individuals per sq km. Stay with us, as there is a point to all of these numbers!

On top of all of this, the population is largely urbanised, with a majority of people living in a handful of large cities, eastern states and coastal regions. And lastly, it is one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

So, in consideration of the above, when one joins the dots between a huge landmass, a wealthy population focused largely in cities, and substantial distances separating many of these population centres, it is logical that there is a healthy demand for private jet charter across the country.

Within Australia, Canberra is of course the national capital, and Sydney may be the most populous city in the country, but Melbourne is often referred to as the cultural capital of Australia; and in terms of being either a destination or departure point it is Melbourne for which we see the most enquiries.

Private Aviation in Singapore

Modern Singapore is a city state boasting one of the most competitive, driven, and fast moving economies in the world, and as such, it is a nerve centre for global trade, attracting huge sums in terms of foreign investment from both the West and China.

Singapore Changi is the larger of the two, and serves as one of Asia’s chief international aviation hubs, with an annual capacity for 66 million passengers. Many arriving or departing Singapore by private jet, however, choose to fly to Singapore Seletar, a smaller airport open 24 hours a day, which is less busy than Changi and which is often therefore regarded as being the more efficient for the business traveller.
